Is Stress Running Your Life? Here’s Why It Matters

Is Stress Running Your Life? Here’s Why It Matters

Hey friend — I’m Stephanie, founder of Nummies, mom, business owner, and… full-time overthinker. (Anyone else?)

I’m so glad you’re here because today, we’re diving into something that I know every woman I talk to is dealing with — and probably not talking about enough.

Stress.

Not just “I had a long day” stress. I’m talking about the sneaky, everyday kind that slowly chips away at your sleep, your mood, your energy, unstoppable headaches… and before you know it, you don’t even recognize yourself.

What Is Stress, Really?
We throw the word around all the time — but what actually is it?

Stress is your body’s natural way of protecting you. Back in the day, it was life-saving. You’d get stressed, your body would spike cortisol, your heart would race, your digestion would slow, and you’d have the energy to run from danger.

Problem is — there’s no saber-toothed tiger chasing us anymore. But our brains can’t tell the difference between a grumpy email, a traffic jam, or financial stress and actual danger.

And that’s where things get messy. It’s not bad, but when it stacks up or becomes lengthy and/or chronic can be devastating to your health.

What Happens When It’s Constant?
The issue isn’t stress itself — it’s when it becomes our default setting.

When we live in a constant state of “on edge,” our bodies pay the price:

  • Your hormones go wild

  • Your digestion slows down

  • Sleep gets choppy

  • You crave alllll the sugar

  • You feel anxious or snappy for no good reason

Sound familiar? Yeah — me too.

Why Women Are Hit Harder
Quick science moment: women are wired differently.
We’re more sensitive to stress hormones because of our unique hormone cycles.
Meaning stress throws off not just your mood, but your energy, your skin, your metabolism, your patience with your kids… all of it.

And we often normalize it. Like “oh, this is just how I am now.”

Spoiler: it doesn’t have to be.

Why This Matters
Because stress is sneaky. It masks itself as “I’m just tired” or “I just need a weekend away.”

But it builds up. And eventually, your body forces you to slow down.

I don’t want that for you. I want you to feel calm, clear, and steady — even when life’s a little chaotic.

And I’ve been working on something behind the scenes to help with exactly that.
I can’t share all the details yet, but let’s just say your nervous system is about to have a new best friend.

If this hits home for you, send it to a friend who needs to read it too. And be sure to tune in next week — I’m sharing the real story of how stress totally wrecked my health and what I did to finally feel like me again.

Because if I can do it, so can you. Until next time 💛
